A fundraiser for the Granite House sensory garden was held Nov 14 by our sponsors at Thrivent Community-Landmark in Lake Elmo. These photos were posted on their page and we thank them once again for showing their support! More to come about the garden project.
Oct 30-The roof is done! Metal fabricating by Architectural Construction Services Inc and installed by Metro Panel at a charitable discount. Excellent product, installation, and results. This roof will last for generations!
Sept 21- The triple-glazed Loewen windows were installed this week. Such great quality at a generously discounted price! The manufacturers in Canada as well as the distributors, Synergy Products, gave us discounts. When the framers were installing them, they were so sound-proof that they could hardly hear each other from the inside to the exterior. This house will be warm and cozy and cool in the summer--plus very quiet.Thank you to Loewen and Synergy!
Nov 19- A nice article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune today about Granite House. Here's a link to the story online:

Our Home and Garden Event was last night and it was great fun. Our guests saw a slide show about the construction progress and saw the amazing plans for our community accessible sensory garden. Oct 12- More house photos coming soon, but here are some great shots of our Granite House team at the Sept 23 Walk for Thought at Long Lake Regional Park. This annual event is sponsored by the MN Brain Injury Alliance and we have had a team there for four years. A fun outing for Aaron's caregivers and their families, plus board members, friends and neighbors.
Sept 30- Windows are in and the metal roof panels are being installed this week. We are effectively "dried in." The rough grading around the main entrance is settling and will have a concrete stoop and patio poured, so that wheelchairs can be taken in and out without a ramp.
December 31-- Happy New Year from Granite House! During these very cold days Tom has been working on framing the lower level walls, preparing for the final electrical and plumbing rough-in. The upper level concrete floors were poured over the in-floor heating tubes and we are looking at light fixtures, planning the kitchen, and preparing for elevator installation. Our sub-contractors are providing charitable discounts on labor or materials. Thanks to all of you for your support and your faith in what we are doing.
Sept 12- Raising the roof! The house is taking shape with the roof trusses complete and roof sheathing beginning. The screened porch is in the photo on the far left. The grading will bring the soil right up close to the entry door and then the concrete porch will be poured.
Nov 30- The siding is almost finished at the house. We love the bold red color with the bronze metal roof. The siding is pre-painted and finished, and has a guarantee. The roof will last for generations.
